Assign resources to services
Connect what you offer with what you need
Assigning resources to a service tells Aura which people, rooms, or equipment are needed to deliver that service. When a customer books, Aura will automatically check that the required resources are available.
The assignment is configured within each service, in the Required Resources section.
AND and OR logic
When assigning resources to a service, you can use two types of logic that determine how resources are combined:
ALL resources in the row are needed to deliver the service. For example, for a massage you need a massage therapist AND a booth. If either one is unavailable, the booking can’t be made.
Only ONE of the resources in the row is needed. For example, for a physiotherapy consultation you need Ana OR Carlos (either one works). If Ana is busy but Carlos is free, the booking can go through.
Multiple rows (groups)
You can add multiple resource rows to the same service. Each row is an independent group with its own logic (AND or OR). Between different rows, the logic is always AND: all rows must be satisfied.
This lets you create complex resource combinations in a simple way.
Practical example: Hair salon
Imagine you have a hair salon and want to set up the “Cut and style” service. For this service you need:
- A stylist (can be Ana, Carlos, or Laura — any of the three).
- A salon chair (there are 4 available, you need one).
The configuration would be:
When booking, Aura will look for an available stylist (any of the three) AND a free chair. Only if both conditions are met can the booking be made.
Practical example: Physiotherapy clinic
Service: “Rehabilitation with equipment”. You need:
- A physiotherapist (David or Elena, either one).
- A rehabilitation room (there are 2 rooms).
- An ultrasound machine (there is 1 unit).
All three conditions must be met: an available physiotherapist AND a free room AND the ultrasound machine not in use.
Selection mode
For each resource row, you can choose how the resource is assigned:
Automatic
Aura automatically picks an available resource. The customer doesn’t have to choose. This is the simplest option and works well when the customer doesn’t mind which professional or room they’re assigned.
Customer's choice
The customer can choose the resource they prefer. For example, a customer who always wants to be seen by the same stylist can select them when booking.
Use “Automatic” selection for resources like rooms or equipment (customers usually don’t mind which one they get) and “Customer’s choice” for professionals when your customers have preferences.
How to configure resources in a service
- Go to Services and select the service you want to configure (or create a new one).
- Find the Required Resources section.
- Click Add to create a new resource row.
- Select the resources that belong to that row.
- Choose the logic: AND (all are needed) or OR (one is needed).
- Choose the selection mode: Automatic or Customer’s choice.
- Repeat to add more rows if the service requires different types of resources.
- Save the service.
If a row has OR logic with resources from different groups and both are selected, the durations and prices (when configured per resource) will be added together. Keep this in mind when setting up services with multiple rows.
