What are automations

Messages that send themselves

Automations are actions that Aura performs automatically when something specific happens or at a scheduled time. Their most common use is sending messages to your customers without any manual effort on your part.

For example, you can set up an automation so Aura sends a WhatsApp reminder 24 hours before every appointment, or an instant confirmation when a customer makes a booking.

Two types of automations

Aura offers two types of automations based on what triggers them:

Event-based

Triggered when something happens in your business: a booking is created, a support ticket is resolved, an appointment is confirmed, etc. You can choose whether the message is sent at the exact moment, some time before, or some time after the event.

Scheduled

Triggered at a date and time you choose, or on a recurring basis (for example, every Monday at 9:00 AM). Perfect for weekly promotions, periodic reminders, or one-time campaigns.

How they work

Every automation needs two things:

  1. A trigger: What causes the automation to activate. It can be an event (like a booking being created) or a scheduled moment (like a specific date and time).

  2. A template: The message that will be sent to the customer when the automation fires. Templates are created beforehand in the templates section and can include personalized customer and booking data.

Before creating an automation, make sure you have at least one template created and, in the case of WhatsApp, approved. Without a template, the automation won’t be able to send any messages.

Where to set them up

Automations are managed from the Automation Events section in your agent’s side menu. From there you can create new automations, edit existing ones, and enable or disable them.

Usage examples

  • Send an automatic reminder before every appointment.
  • Instantly confirm a newly created booking.
  • Send a thank-you message after each visit.
  • Launch a weekly promotion every Friday.
  • Automatically follow up when a support ticket is resolved.
